Day 15 -- 6/15- London - Day 2

This morning we woke up to yet another sunny day.  After a quick breakfast, we decided to walk to the British Museum where we had tickets for 10:10an admission.  When we reached it about a mile away, there has a huge school group in front of us.  The tickets were not needed for entry and soon we were in after a security check.

The museum is huge and very well curated.  We started with the top floor and it got extremely hot.  So much so, that they closed it.  We at a quick lunch in the great hall including a chat with folks from Georgia who are starting a DIY woodworking cruise to Norway.  We finished our time viewing the Africa exhibits in the basement and China/India.  Angela wanted to visit Abbey Road, so we found the subway station and an employee there was able to clearly explain the cheapest way to use the subway and buses.  Essentially, one uses a chip embedded credit card to tap on and off the subway with a maximum daily charge of £8.10.  Buses can also be included in the route.

We arrived at the station for visiting Abbey Road and we weren't the only ones doing it! The iconic crosswalk is a protected historical treasure and posing for pictures definitely occurred by many.  The actual Abbey Road Studio is blocked by gates, but there is a very nice gift shop there. Afterwards, we caught a 189 double decker bus back to the theater district and found a nice Thai restaurant to enjoy a meal.  Afterwards we found a bench down by the Thames to chill out in and we found a statute commemorating Robert Raines, founder of Sunday School before walking back to the Vaudeville theater for the musical, Six, which is about the six wives of Henry VIII.  6 ladies in elaborate costumes sang about their relationship with him, but the songs were unintelligible to both of us due to their accents and how loud the background music was.  It came across as a hip hop rock opera. For us it was a disappointing performance although the show seems to have a cult following.   It was then a subway ride back to our canal boat.  At 11pm, there was still lots of people activity, but we easily fell asleep.

Tomorrow is our final full day in London, and the only thing we scheduled is a Harry Potter walking tour at 11am for a couple hours.
